Wellness Facilitator
This position will support the facilitation of trauma healing processes and content knowledge exchange with clients impacted by personal, historic and intergenerational trauma.
As a member of our counselling team your role is to assist participants on their healing journey. You will be responsible to provide:
- First Nations culturally specific healing based programs and interventions that encourage clients to develop self-awareness, wholistic wellness, and healthy behavioural and emotional coping strategies
- A safe, supportive trauma informed environment for participants that allows for opportunities for emotional release, vulnerability and group sharing
- File management – Confidentiality, accuracy, time management, following RLTC/CARF standards and guidelines are essential
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
Commensurate combination of work experience (minimum 2 years) in a residential treatment facility or related facilitation experience of First Nations clients in a substance misuse/mental health capacity. Addiction services experience is required.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in a related field in Mental Health & Addictions, Counselling, Psychology, Social Work and / or Professional certification from an accredited facility in an alcohol and drug counsellor training program
- Demonstrated background and knowledge of First Nations peoples’ customs, culture, and impact of trauma issues, and cultural oppression.
- Willing to work as a team member within a multidisciplinary team.
- RLTC is an alcohol and drug free environment. Service providers in the substance misuse field must maintain a reasonable standard of professional practice and will act as a role model.
- Knowledge of trauma informed practices and strong group facilitation skills
- Emotional Intelligence competencies that include adapting to changing situations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email are a must.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position which may include: lifting, crouching, walking on uneven ground – sweats, on the land healing etc
- Class Five Driver’s License as Required and Class Four Driver’s license an asset.
- Utilizing The Medicine Teachings as the foundation for your own personal wellness

Qualified First Nations candidates will be given preference in accordance with the BC Human Rights Code section 42
All candidates will be asked to demonstrate their facilitation skills at the interview by:
- Presenting a written workshop plan AND
- Facilitating a portion of the plan with a ten minute activity with a panel. Details to be provided.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $29.00-$35.00 per hour
